“But I would have to change clothes first,” Mukuro called out. Some renegade youkai could be slaughtering that human as we speak.” He threw the door open. “In any case, you were the one who just barged into the bathing room.” “You look a bit flushed,” Mukuro observed. “Don’t you know that you should close the door when you’re bathing? Being naked leaves you vulnerable to attack and-and-” “Yesterday was different,” Hiei muttered. “Or perhaps you’re the one who’s being silly.” Hiei didn’t even have time to retort, for she continued, “I mean, after all, it wasn’t the first time that you had seen me without any clothes, was it? I already revealed myself to you before, right after you won the battle against Shigure-” “Is it because of what happened yesterday?” Mukuro emphasized the last word, syllable by syllable. “Hn.” The grunt came out slightly strangled. So then, we can still discuss this other matter. “Yes, we have plenty,” Mukuro said evenly, “you said it yourself: this mission seems pretty routine. “We have no time for that,” Hiei said gruffly. We still have something else to discuss.” There was a hint of smile on her lips, and Hiei really, really didn’t like what that meant. That’s all then? Let’s go.” He was only too glad to leave.īut before he could take one step further, Mukuro cleared her throat. “We can send him to the Ningen Kai in no time. Hiei glanced at the papers she held in her hand. I only currently have the human’s last known location, so it’s best we get to work on it immediately.” “There was another human sighted yesterday,” she went on. It was a fruitless question anyway she always, always knew. “How did you-” Mukuro only raised an eyebrow at him and Hiei decided to forego the matter. “Finally,” Mukuro said from where she stood, a few feet away from the front door. He entered right through the front door, for it was the most illogical, and therefore the safest, route. He landed on the ground on the opposite side of the castle, barely making a sound. He briefly considered heading towards the nearby forest, to hide in there for a day, at the very least-but surely she would expect him to go there? He decided that the best option was to hide inside the castle itself. He would just have to delay the confrontation for as long as he could. He was sure that Mukuro had probably caught the end of his shadow just right before he jumped out, and he knew she wasn’t stupid, so she had probably figured out that he was avoiding her by now. He leapt onto a tree branch near the window, then up to the roof of the castle, where he paused to think about his next course of action. Hiei stopped in his tracks when he heard her voice, and with a muttered curse, managed to slip out of the window before she could arrive in the room they had earlier designated as his living quarters. I wanted to write something introspective for these two, but somehow I couldn't resist the lure of some slight Hiei-torture, ahaha. Notes: Drabble for aoimidori! ^_^ I don't know why this ended up as mild crack.
